My ipod has wiped my music and videos and now wont sync any new material

I connected my ipod to a friend's Mac the other day but when i ejected it i had found that it had wiped all of my ipod content except for my photos. My ipod now refuses to take on any new files as well. I dont know what exactly happened, (whether it tried to sync it with that computers itunes library or not, but this has never happened before when i have connected it to a foreign itunes.
However, when you connect it to itunes now it still shows that it has all of of the content on the ipod (classified as 'other' in summary). SO i guess my question is how do i recover the filesd still on the ipod and get my ipod working like a normal well behaved music player should!

Sounds like it auto synched
Sounds like it auto synched when you connected your iPod to your friends iTunes. This would then put all that music on your iPod and delete the stuff that was there. If you have all your music on your iTunes then you can restore your iPod to factory settings and then resynch with your computer using iTunes. Reset and restore information in menu bar at top of page.
