Registry Settings are Missing
Vista operating system. Installed iTunes 8 and it ran fine, but other programs (Windows Media, etc.) that came with the computer couldn't "find" the DVD software. A call into HP resulted in a download (MicrosoftFixIt50027.msi) which took care of Windows Media, etc., but now causes me to get errors on iTunes. When opening iTunes it says "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." Although I can import into iTunes without a problem, I get a "No Disc Recording Software Found" error whenever I try to burn a CD/DVD. I've reinstalled iTunes and continue to get these same errors.
P.S. I can still play/burn
P.S. I can still play/burn CDs/DVDs in any other programs, just not iTunes.
Here's what you do: Uninstall
Here's what you do:
Uninstall itunes and quicktime.
run that fixit tool to make the registry right
Then save the itunes setup file on your desktop, right click on it and pick run as admin, to install it right
open itunes and check to see if it says no supported burner under file>Library>backup or something
If it says no supported burner, CLOSE ITUNES
goto www.gearsoftware.com, and download their driver update like you did the itunes setup, and right click and run as admin
after it's done, open up itunes
Too many people have this problem...
